Job Overview
Location: Oakville, Ontario
Structure: Detached two-storey house with attached garage
Problem: Nighttime wildlife activity reported in the attic, consistent with raccoon behaviour
Service: Raccoon removal and roofline exclusion
Visits: 3
Summary
Our team completed a three-visit raccoon removal and exclusion service after attic noise was reported overnight. A full roof inspection identified a primary soffit entry point and additional roof vulnerabilities. Humane one-way doors were installed to allow animals to exit, followed by comprehensive exclusion and a final confirmation visit with no further activity reported.
Background / Property Context
The property is a detached, two-storey residential home with multiple roofline features, including soffit intersections and roof vents. Mature trees near the roofline provided access opportunities typical for raccoon movement.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported repeated nighttime noises coming from the attic, raising concerns about raccoon entry and potential damage to the roofline and insulation.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial exterior roof inspection, a lifted soffit intersection was identified as the primary entry point. Additional inspection noted multiple roof vents that could be vulnerable to wildlife intrusion. An attic inspection was completed to check for dependent young; no raccoon babies were found at the time of service.
Cause Analysis
Raccoons commonly access attics by exploiting weak points along roof edges, especially soffit intersections and unprotected vents. Elevated rooflines near trees increase access, and previously lifted soffit panels can be reused once discovered. Secondary entry attempts may occur if exclusion is not yet complete across the entire roofline.
Treatment / Removal
A humane, non-lethal approach was used throughout. One-way doors were installed at identified entry points to allow raccoons to exit naturally while preventing re-entry. After a subsequent report of renewed activity, a secondary entry point was identified and fitted with an additional one-way door. All work was completed by our team in accordance with accepted wildlife removal standards.
Exclusion & Repairs
- Approximately fourteen feet of soffit protection was installed using galvanized steel mesh at vulnerable intersections.
- Twelve roof vents were secured with galvanized steel vent cages to prevent wildlife access while maintaining proper ventilation.
- All exclusion materials were mechanically fastened and contoured to the roofline and soffit structure.

Outcome & Confirmation
On the final visit, the homeowner reported no further attic activity. All one-way doors were removed, sealed, and the full exclusion system was reinspected. No additional wildlife entry points were observed, and the roofline remained secure at the time of completion.
Technician Notes
Andrew completed the inspections and installations across all three visits. Weather conditions were favourable, and roof access was unobstructed. Photos taken during service show soffit intersections protected with galvanized mesh, roof vents secured with steel cages, and one-way doors installed and later removed following confirmation of wildlife exit.
