Job Overview
Location: Oakville, Ontario
Structure: Detached two story house with attached garage
Problem: Suspected squirrel activity in the attic during early morning hours
Service: Squirrel removal
Visits: Two
Summary
We responded to reports of early morning attic noise consistent with squirrel activity. A full roofline inspection identified an existing opening at a soffit intersection. A one-way door was installed to allow the animals to exit, followed by targeted soffit reinforcement. A return visit confirmed no further activity and completed permanent sealing.
Background / Property Context
The property is a detached two-story home with multiple rooflines and soffit intersections. These transition points can be vulnerable over time, particularly where materials meet or where prior wear is present.
Customer Concern
The homeowner reported repeated sounds in the attic during early morning hours and observed squirrels moving along the roof. They were concerned about ongoing access into the attic space.
Inspection & Findings
During the initial visit, our technician Andrew completed a full exterior roof inspection. An existing opening was found at a soffit intersection, consistent with squirrel entry behavior. No additional active entry points were observed at the time of inspection.
Cause Analysis
Squirrels commonly exploit weakened or pre-existing gaps at roof and soffit intersections. Elevated rooflines provide easy access, and once an opening is established, repeated use can enlarge the area. Seasonal activity in spring and summer often coincides with increased attic entry attempts.
Treatment / Removal
A humane, non-lethal squirrel removal process was implemented. A one-way door was installed over the identified entry point to allow adult squirrels to exit while preventing re-entry. This method enables the animals to leave on their own without trapping or harm.

Exclusion & Repairs
Approximately three feet of soffit protection was installed using galvanized steel mesh to reinforce the affected area. The mesh was secured flush to the roofline and soffit surfaces to prevent future access while maintaining proper ventilation and drainage.

Outcome & Confirmation
On the follow-up visit, the homeowner reported no further wildlife activity. The one-way door was removed, the entry point was permanently sealed, and all exclusion work was inspected. No additional squirrel activity has been reported since completion.

Technician Notes
- Initial visit focused on full roof inspection and identification of the primary entry point.
- One-way door installed and soffit reinforced with galvanized steel mesh.
- Final visit confirmed successful removal, door removal, sealing, and inspection of exclusion work.
Photo Notes
- Images show galvanized steel mesh installed along roof and soffit intersections.
- Fasteners and washers are visible securing the mesh flush to shingles and soffit panels.
- Reinforcement appears to follow the roofline consistently at vulnerable transition points.
